1. Supporting Dyslexic Learners Every Day – Beyond Traditional Phonics

For over two decades, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of dyslexic learners—from young children to adults. Over time, one thing has become clear: when these individuals are given the right tools and strategies, they can unlock their full potential. But those tools must match how they learn best—through visual and visual-tactile methods.

Most of my students have what is known as phonological dyslexia. They struggle with linking letters to sounds, making phonics—while useful for reading—less effective when it comes to spelling, comprehension, and writing. In school, they may sound out words accurately, but reading for meaning often requires multiple passes. The cognitive load of decoding leaves little mental space for comprehension.

Spelling is an even greater hurdle. English is not a straightforward phonetic language. Vowels, in particular, behave inconsistently. For auditory learners, this is manageable. But for visual-thinkers—many of whom are dyslexic—these inconsistencies make spelling a frustrating puzzle.

And then there are the so-called “invisible words”—words that carry no image: the, of, an, by. Though they appear simple and are often used correctly in speech and writing, their abstract nature creates gaps in understanding for visual learners. When several of these words appear in a sentence, comprehension suffers. Take for example:

“He saw that what was at his right side could have been put into use to escape.”

What does the reader see? The vague and abstract language leaves little for a picture thinker to hold onto.

I used to work with students over a 5-day intensive program, helping them model these abstract words in clay. While this immersive experience was effective, life often got in the way. Without daily reinforcement, much of that potential remained dormant. Some retained the emotional regulation tools we taught—learning to manage their focus, calm their nervous systems, and slow their racing thoughts—but they didn’t reach the full transformation they were capable of. I knew there had to be a better way.

2. Daily Dyslexia Tutor – 10-Minute Lessons That Work

That’s when the idea for a Daily Dyslexia Tutor in your pocket was born.

The Daily Dyslexia Tutor is a simple yet powerful way to build reading, spelling, and comprehension skills—right from your mobile phone. Instead of a one-time program, students now receive daily, bite-sized video lessons that make learning consistent, engaging, and achievable.

Each lesson takes around 10–15 minutes and focuses on a single word or two—often those tricky abstract ones. Students create meaning for each word using clay models, drawings, photos, or videos—whatever suits their creative style.

Here’s how The Daily Dyslexia Tutor works:

  • One-day intensive start – Learn focus and calming strategies, discover your learning style, and explore how to use your visual strengths.
  • Daily bite-sized lessons – Short, 10–15 minute sessions focusing on 1–2 words at a time.
  • Creative learning methods – Clay models, drawings, photos, or videos—whatever fits your style best.
  • Personal feedback – You send your work daily; we respond with encouragement and guidance.
  • Monthly progress check-ins – In person or via Zoom to track academic and emotional growth.

Every word becomes an interactive experience. As confidence grows, the complexity of tasks increases, tailored to each student’s age and ability.

The results have been remarkable. Our first group of eight students has made visible, measurable progress. Yes, some need reminders to stay on track, but they’re having fun—and they’re learning.

One of my favourite moments came from a 7-year-old student learning the word “him.” She created a clay model of a boy and poured water over it while saying, “The rain is falling on him.” It was joyful, clever, and unforgettable. She’s now a little TikTok star in her family—proud of her progress and excited to use her new words in writing.

Another older student, who prefers not to use clay, writes complex sentences in her notebook instead. One day she wrote:

“Can I please get one of the container.”

That simple sentence opened the door to a conversation about grammar and plurality—one of those personalised, in-the-moment lessons that stick for life.

The Daily Dyslexia Tutor is designed for anyone who needs ongoing, bite-sized support to build literacy skills—no matter where they live.

It’s perfect for:

  • Children who need daily support and encouragement beyond the classroom.

Wherever you are, your tutor is just a message away.

4. Dyslexia Tutoring Results – Real Stories from Real Students

The Daily Dyslexia Tutor is still new, but the progress we’ve seen so far has been extraordinary. Students aren’t just learning—they’re enjoying learning, and that’s the real key to lasting change.

Here’s what’s been happening in our first five months:

  • Early primary breakthroughs – A 7-year-old who once avoided reading is now confidently using new words in everyday conversation. Her family says she’s excited to “show off” her clay models at the dinner table, turning learning into a game everyone enjoys.

  • Teen confidence restored – A 14-year-old student, who had struggled with spelling tests for years, recently achieved her first perfect score. She credits the daily lessons with helping her “see” the words in her mind before writing them down.

  • Adults rediscovering literacy – One parent joined the program alongside their child, realising they had their own gaps in spelling and grammar. They’ve now progressed from hesitant writing to confidently sending professional emails without second-guessing every word.

  • Global connection – A student in Bali told us that the daily videos make her feel like she has “a teacher right here in the room,” even though we’re thousands of kilometres apart.

  • From frustration to fun – A boy in Year 5 who once became upset when asked to write now asks his teacher for more opportunities to use his new vocabulary in stories.

These aren’t one-off wins—they’re part of a steady, measurable shift in how our students approach reading, writing, and self-belief.

5. Five Months to Stronger Reading, Writing, and Confidence

At the pace of 1–2 words a day, it takes about five months to complete the program. Along the way, students engage in:

  • Word modelling and interpretation
  • Creative writing and sentence building
  • Reading and comprehension games
  • Fun grammar lessons—delivered by our lovable Grammar Animals

And this is just the beginning.

I can’t wait to share more stories and results from our students in the coming months. Watching them transform, one small step at a time, is one of the greatest joys of my career.
